Hack for Western Mass for 2015

Hack for Western Mass for 2015

Thank you for participating in Hack for Western Mass in 2013 or 2014! We hope you had a fun and meaningful experience, and would like to invite you to join us again. This year, we plan to be in the beautiful UMass Center at Springfield on the same dates (June 6 and 7). We’re making a few other changes this year as well.

We are trying to start earlier and we want to organize local teams in advance of the Hackathon. We believe this will help challenges to hit the ground running when the hackathon starts — and to provide greater continuity for our community partners after the event.

We are looking for local Team Organizers to start now: Would you like to be one? Team Organizers will help prepare for the Hackathon by recruiting a local team of hackers, reaching out to community partners in their area, and helping to prepare one (or more) challenges to bring to the Hackathon.

We hope each challenge brought forward will have a local Project Manager identified in advance, who will make sure that necessary data and context are brought to Hackathon to help the teams be productive — and to help ensure that community partners can use the completed work after the hackathon is over.

Please use our signup form to indicate that you would like to be a Team Organizer, Project Manager, or Team Member for the Hackathon: https://hackforwesternmass.org/user/register If you have a gmail or Google Apps email address, we encourage you to use that address. We will only share your contact information with other organizers.

If you select “Team Organizer” or “Project Manager”, we’ll add you to our Project Manager’s mailing list, so you can find out how other teams are approaching the work.   You’ll also be provided with resources to organize your materials, and the list of the other registrants from your town and surrounds for your first team meeting on or around April 1st.

If you want more information, or have questions, we’ve made an explanatory video: https://hackforwesternmass.org/video-guide-hackathon-2015 and slide deck that outlines our plan: http://goo.gl/HxcxgD

We hope you’ll take part again this year!
